Figaro the Magnificent Resonating to the Music
Hello! My once-in-a-lifetime-friend (like your Old Sam) was Figaro the Magnificent, who had to depart from me March 13, 2008, after 17 years together.
I have always rescued animals, but Figaro the Magnificent showed me the difference between having a pet and communing with companion animal.
I was walking to dinner at a friend's house on February 8, 1991 a little black and white creature was in the middle of a busy street. I saw a large pickup truck barreling right for him, and I ran into the street quite by impulse to rescue him - really, not knowing what little creature he was. I looked into the most amazing green eyes staring back at me from the tiniest black and white kitten face, and the love that shone in those eyes never failed! Figaro was there for me at the end of a pretty awful marriage - he then moved with me from Florida to Maine to New Jersey to our home in Delaware, and each time, as soon as he knew where his litter box, food and water bowls were, he would settle in next to me for the night. He allowed a lot of "brothers and sisters" to join our family, always maintaining his Top Cat status with great dignity, grace and perseverance.
Figaro, by example, helped me develop an appreciation for many different kinds of music, including opera, classical, and jazz - I was always more of a head-banger heavy metal and rock-n-roll type!
Figaro started showing signs of decline last September, and with the help of a wonderful vet, Dr. Dawn, I embarked on a journey t o discover any way to comfort him. I found your website during one Internet search, and ordered your CD.
I played the CD every day! Figaro would sit next to the player and he was obviously harmonizing with it. He would close his eyes, and resonate the joy he felt listening to it, sometimes purring, sometimes not. When his time grew small, and the vet arrived, I played your CD so that the final sounds he heard were
my voice soothing him and your music, which I know he enjoyed. He was ready to go - he even offered his paw to Dr. Dawn!
Here's a couple of pictures of Figaro the Magnificent toward the end of his days - you can see him resonating to the music. We all still listen to your CD every day - it really calms the household and seems to just set everything right. I feel Figaro's presence in the second just before I go to sleep and in the moment when I wake up. I don't think the great ones ever rea lly leave us!
Thank you so much for giving him such comfort with your CD and allowing me to share the tale.
With highest regards -
Mary J. Armbrust and Family
